SEC Business Group is seeking an experienced General Fitter to join our team on a full-time basis.

This role is suited to a trade-qualified fitter with experience in mechanical maintenance, machinery installation, conveyor systems, shutdown work, and heavy industrial environments.

SEC Business Group delivers engineering, fabrication, conveyor, mechanical maintenance, and project support services across the mining, resources, and heavy industrial sectors.

Work May Include

The role will involve fitting, assembling, installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment in workshop, site, shutdown, and project environments.

Key duties include:

  • Studying drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine suitable materials, methods, sequence of operations, and machine settings.
  • Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment.
  • Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance, and fit using precision measuring instruments.
  • Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines and mechanical equipment.
  • Overhauling and repairing mechanical parts, machinery, and fluid power equipment.
  • Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes, hoses, and lines.
  • Installing, assembling, and erecting machinery, equipment, and mechanical components on site.
  • Supporting conveyor and materials handling maintenance, including belt systems, rollers, scrapers, guards, chutes, and associated plant equipment.
  • Carrying out shutdown, breakdown, maintenance, and project-based fitting works.
  • Following site safety procedures, completing required documentation, and maintaining a strong focus on safe work practices.

What We’re Looking For

To be considered, applicants should have:

  • Relevant trade qualification as a General Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Plant Mechanic, or related mechanical trade.
  • Previous experience in general fitting, fixed plant maintenance, machinery maintenance, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Site, mining, conveyor, or shutdown maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding, maintenance, and mechanical repair skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems desirable.
  • Ability to read drawings, follow specifications, and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong safety focus and ability to follow site procedures.
  • Ability to work across workshop, site, and project environments.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence preferred.

Position Overview

About the Role

SEC Business Group Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Rubber Production Machine Operators to support our growing conveyor, rubber production, and industrial services operations. This role involves operating and monitoring machinery used in the manufacture, processing, and preparation of rubber products in accordance with safety, quality, and production requirements.

The position is hands-on and suited to candidates with experience in industrial rubber production environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Operating, setting, and regulating rubber production machinery and equipment
  • Loading, measuring, and mixing raw materials and compounds in accordance with production specifications
  • Operating rubber moulding, extrusion, vulcanising, curing, and finishing equipment
  • Monitoring machine performance and adjusting controls to maintain product quality
